Xu Yichen Wins Amateur Masters
Xu Yichen won the Amateur Masters tournament organised by Shanghai Masters promoter East Asia Group, to earn a wild card to the event proper.
Xu, from Hunan Province, beat Feng Xuebao 5-2 in the final and will now meet Stephen Maguire in the wild card round of the Shanghai Masters on Tuesday.

White Beats Walden In Tense Tie
Michael White narrowly defeated Ricky Walden to reach the last 16 of the Shanghai Masters, after a dramatic final frame decider.
The pair traded the opening two frames, before White pulled away with breaks of 45 and 113, to lead 3-1.

Players Visit Shanghai School
Joe Perry, Jamie Jones and Robert Milkins took time out from their Shanghai Masters practice schedule today to visit Shanghai Middle School.
The players joined WPBSA Chairman Jason Ferguson to meet budding young snooker fans and give them tips on snooker and pool tables.
Ferguson said: “Snooker continues to thrive in China at grassroots level and we are working alongside our promoters, the Chinese Billiards And Snooker Association and Shanghai Billiards Association in growing our sport here at all levels. It’s fantastic to see pupils who are so enthusiastic about snooker and today was a chance for them to learn more and meet their heroes. Most of all I’d like to thank the players for the time they dedicated to visiting the school.”

O’Sullivan Rallies To Beat Wenbo
Ronnie O’Sullivan recovered from 4-1 down to beat Liang Wenbo at the Shanghai Masters on the Rocket’s first appearance of 2016/17.
After Liang claimed a scrappy opener, O’Sullivan got his first frame on the board with a run of 84.
However, Liang continued to feed off mistakes from a rusty O’Sullivan. The Chinese potter opened up a 4-1 lead.
Five-time World Champion O’Sullivan countered with a break of 65 in the sixth frame to keep his chances alive and the pressure began to take its toll on Liang. He missed several opportunities to clinch the match and as the Rocket grew in confidence, he began to punish Liang’s mistakes. Visits of 42 and 56 were enough to seal a 5-4 comeback win.
“Being 4-1 down wasn’t an ideal situation, but I thought that I just had to try my best and see what happens. I won a couple of frames and the match turned around,” said O’Sullivan. “I need to start putting more time in now. If I want to compete with the best players in the world I need to play more. I think I have four or five very good years left in my career.”

Beim Shanghai Masters kommt es Heute im Endspiel zu einer Wiederauflage des WM-Finals: Mark Selby kämpft gegen Ding Junhui um den Titel. Im Halbfinale drehte Selby gegen Stuart Bingham noch einen 3:5-Rückstand und setzte sich mit 6:3 durch. Ding Junhui gewann gegen Stephen Maguire die letzten vier Frames und schlug den Schotten in einer zerfahrenen Partie mit 6:3.
